Professional & Personal Sabbatical – Design, Travel & Writing (Jan 2024 – Dec 2024)

Equinix   (Redwood City, CA) – Head of Global Paid Social Media, Global Comms (May 2018 – Dec 2023)

  • As Equinix’s first social strategist, I develop and execute a holistic, B2B social media strategy for the Americas region, and oversee paid social media across the globe.
  • While head of paid social advertising globally, I founded the Global Paid Ad Leadership Council and manage $6 million in ad spend and lead regional marketers in their ad-buying activities.
  • With a passion for content creation, I write engaging blog posts, design compelling visuals for ad campaigns, produce and edit dynamic videos of key executives and partners, photograph live events, and publish widely-read newsletters.  Total engagement increased by 247% during the pandemic.
  • With a focus on PBM & ABM lead generation, I develop a social selling strategy using LinkedIn Ads and retargeting to deliver leads to stakeholders, hand-delivering 394 MQLs in 2023, and continue to nurture these leads through the sales funnel.
  • Focused on data-driven decisions, I consistently analyze data with Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Sprout Social, and Tableau to drive ROI, while overseeing the Global Social team’s Quarterly Business Review.  Contributed to 70% improvement in overall social media performance.
  • As a seasoned storyteller and published author (with my debut book in its 12th print run) I leverage my writing talents to transform complex technical language into accessible and entertaining content for social media platforms.  Grew the social media following by over 200% during the pandemic.
  • Unafraid to innovate and experiment, I bring new ad types (LinkedIn Conversations, Meta LeadGen Ads) and platforms (Twitter/X, Taboola, WhatsApp, Reddit) to our marketing organization.  Reduced cost-per-click by 30% and cost-per-lead by 42% in 2023.
  • Co-sponsored a series of bi-weekly webinars for sales prospects, partnering with major cloud players like Google Cloud, Oracle, and AWS.  Earned and nurtured 220 prospects in 2023.
  • Develop and implement a thought leadership / influencer marketing program featuring LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads to boost the social media presence of our product leaders and foster interactions with data center industry influencers.  Engaged with 20 influencers in first year of program.
  • Leveraging my expertise in business and technology, I have champion the use of state-of-the-art AI tools to support the marketing organization and lead their rollout to our local marketers.
  • As an audio-video hobbyist and experienced Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, & Premiere user, I created our YouTube strategy, launched “Equinix HD”, a bi-weekly video podcast featuring partners and SME’s, earning 11,000 subscribers.
  • Lead social media on cross-functional teams together with product marketing, program, field, channel, customer comms, and sales enablement.  Increased social media’s role in sales pipelines by 20%.

Equinix   (Redwood City, CA)  – Senior Social Media Manager, Global Comms (Oct 2012 – May 2018)

  • Launching Equinix’s social footprint from the ground up as the sole social media manager, I expanded our social presence to 16 regions, eight languages, and a team of six full-time social media employees.
  • Acting as a one-person agency, I maximized miniscule budgets to make a big impact.
  • As Editor-in-Chief of the Equinix blog, I developed a content roadmap for internal stakeholders and external partners, which saw traffic increase by 271% over its first three years.
  • Co-created and launched Equinix’s first social media-focused employee advocacy program, Equinix Ambassadors, achieving a 70% adoption rate globally and now integrated into HR training. 
  • Proficient in social listening and monitoring tools like Talkwalker, Meltwater, and Hootsuite Insights, which I use to track online conversations about the brand and integrate our thought leaders into the discussion.
  • As a seasoned storyteller and published author, I leverage my writing talents to transform complex technical language into accessible and entertaining content for social media platforms.

Nokia  (Sunnyvale, CA) – Senior Manager, Social Media, North America (Nov 2011 – Sep 2012)

  • As Nokia’s social media head, I launched Nokia’s first Windows Phone devices in collaboration with the North American Sales organization, entering North America’s social space boosting Nokia’s Windows Phone market share from 0% to 32%.
  • With killer content, I doubled Nokia’s US Twitter & Facebook fans in six months.
  • As a “public face of Nokia” (The Verge, July 2012) I’ve represented the company to consumers and media at events like SXSW and CES, hosted Nokia’s official podcast that garnered 10,000 listeners/week, and produced videos reaching 1+ million views on YouTube.
  • Created and executed a holistic social media strategy for Nokia’s comeback in the U.S.
  • Managed and engaged fans across blogs, forums, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Produced the social strategy for Nokia’s wildly successful “Smartphone Beta Test” campaign.
  • Through deep analytics with Omniture, I demonstrated how social ROI impacts sales.

Nokia   (Espoo, Finland) – Communications Manager, Social Media (Jul 2009 – Oct 2011)

  • As Editor-in-Chief of Nokia’s official blog, I took readership from 155,000 to 1.2 million uniques/month in five languages, making it the 3rd most-read corporate blog online.
  • Conversations becomes 4th most read Corporate Blog, 34th most read Tech Blog, 37th most read Gadget Blog, and 1st most read Nokia-focused Blog. (according to Technorati)
  • Led Nokia’s social media efforts during CEO transformation, Microsoft partnership, downsizing, and product bugs.  Transformed potential PR issues into positive news cycles.
  • Launched localized editions of Nokia Conversations in Latin America, Finland, and China.
  • Headed up concepting, production, and launch of Nokia.com’s new Press Site.
  • Launched “Design by Community” community/influencer campaign participated by 66,000 users, covered by A-list blogs.
  • Managed four-person virtual team and three-person agency.
  • Managed Nokia’s SM channels. Tripled Twitter followers. Millions of YouTube views.

  • Headed up all global asset and campaign creation for “Games” (N-Gage) and previously “Internet and Applications” (WidSets, Download!, and Headlines).
  • Worked with premium partners such as Disney and EA Sports for Nokia’s app store.
  • My viral campaign, “Open at Own Risk” attracted A-list media attention from top outlets like Gizmodo and Engadget.
